The NBA has suspended Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green indefinitely for his actions towards Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic during their game on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the third quarter of the game when Green swung his arm and struck Nurkic in the face. Green was ejected from the game and was subsequently suspended by the NBA.

The suspension is effective immediately and Green will be required to fulfill "certain conditions of the league and the team in order to return to play."

"This outcome takes into account Green's repeated unsportsmanlike conduct," Joe Dumars, the NBA's executive vice president for basketball operations, said in a statement. "Green has a history of making dangerous plays that put other players at risk, and the league cannot tolerate this type of behavior."

Nurkic was not seriously injured in the incident, but he did fall to the ground after being struck by Green's arm.

"He pulled on my hip and I was swinging for the fences," Green reportedly explained. "I made contact with him. Everybody knows I'm not one to apologize for something I did on purpose, but I'm going to apologize to Yusuf because I didn't mean to hit him."

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that the team needs Green and that he has to find a way to control his emotions.

"We need him, we need Draymond," Kerr said in an interview with NBC Sports. "He knows that, we've talked to him about it. He's got to find a way to keep his poise and be there for his teammates on the court."

Nurkic said that he doesn't know "what happened" with Green.

"Personally, I think that brother needed help. I'm glad he didn't try to choke me ....... It had nothing to do with basketball. I'm just on the court trying to play basketball," Nurkic said.
