FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas - The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Old Dominion Monarchs 86-77 Monday night at Walton Arena.
Arkansas forward Makhi Mitchell scored 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, his best scoring effort for Arkansas. He also grabbed 10 rebounds for his 11th career double-double and his third as a Razorback.
Arkansas guard Khalif Bartel also had a strong game with 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Razorbacks got off to a hot start and led 25-11 at halftime. Mitchell scored eight of his team's 18 points.
Old Dominion came out firing in the second half, extending their lead to 68-63 with just over five minutes left in the game.
For the game, Arkansas shot 50 percent from the field, while Old Dominion shot 42.9 percent. Arkansas also held a 40-33 advantage in rebounding.
Old Dominion's scoring leader was Chauncey Jenkins with 21 points.
The Razorbacks improved their record to 2-0 with the win, while Old Dominion dropped to 1-1.
