The Iowa men's basketball team is looking forward to the ESPN Invitational at Disney World on Thursday. The Cyclones will play Virginia Commonwealth on Thanksgiving and either Boise State or Virginia a day later. After Saturday's break, they could play Penn State, Texas AM, Florida Atlantic or Butler.

The team has gotten off to a 4-0 start this season with wins over Green Bay State, Lindenwood State, Idaho State and Grambling State. However, they are now ready for stiffer competition.

"The best thing about our team," Rob Jones said, "is that we are a very defensive-minded team with a defense that is spread across the country." We are ready to work with every team and bring our physicality and energy to Hilton on the road."

In recent years, the Mavericks have looked to have success in early season games. Two seasons ago, they won the preseason NIT in Brooklyn, defeating No. 25 Xavier and No. 9 Memphis. Last season, they beat Villanova in overtime and No. 1 North Carolina at the Phil Knight Invitational in Portland.

"We've proven we can beat anybody," Jones said." Jones said, "As long as we do what we need to do, we're going to give it our all in every game.

The ESPN Invitational is a great opportunity for the Mavericks to build confidence and unity. It is also a great opportunity for them to face tough opponents and prepare for the rest of the season.

"We're definitely in a good position," said point guard Tamin Lipsey." I think we feel good. Every game and every practice, we're energized."

"This will be our first time away from Hilton, but we're not going to approach it any differently. It's going to be fun. It's a learning experience for all of us. We're looking forward to great things."

I hope this is what you are looking for. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
